Little Mya was left in a cage with no food or water while her owner moved out leaving her behind. She was just left like some old stuffed toy someone discarded when they were finished playing with it. Days went by until one day, help came into Mya’s life at her tender age of 6 years old. Her barks and howls caught the attention of a stranger passing by. Little Mya spent the next two weeks at the local animal hospital recovering from her physical ordeal along with her broken heart. When I heard this horrifying story of her journey, my heart went out to this poor creature. My first instinct was to adopt her and let Little Mya live with me, however, I had 3 dogs of my own. As I was finishing the thought, I was hit with a profound idea; my 95 year old mother”Mutti” recently lost her beloved Emmy, an English Setter of 10 years to an illness. My mom was extremely lonely without her best friend and constant companion. I took a chance taking Little Mya on my next visit to my mom. The minute Mya jumped out of my car, she ran to my mom as if she knew her and started to bark and jump up and down. I could see the smile start to build on my mom’s face and that was it; 2 lost souls had found each other. From that day on, Mya and my Mom were together 24/7. She went on daily walks, played in the back yard and slept next to her in bed. They were inseparable. A few years later my mother became ill and at her age things started to shut down. Little Mya never left her bedside. The last thing I remember was my Mom petting her soft little head and Mya licking her hand. Moments later my dear mom Mutti was gone. I am forever grateful to Mya for mending my mom’s broken heart and being there for her in ever way possible right up to the end ♥️ Rest assured Little Mya was not left behind and she now lives with me and two other dogs. Each day I see Little Mya, I smile and remember the first day Mutti and Mya Met. Each time my eyes meet with Mya, I feel my mother’s essence and it puts a smile on my face.
