From Broken Hearts to Buddha-ful Bonds

From Broken Hearts to Buddha-ful Bonds

After our kids left for college and our old dog passed away, my wife wanted another furry friend and from here my dog rescue story began. We ended up getting Buddha, and unlike our previous Pup, who loved everyone, Buddha was totally devoted to my wife. They were two peas in a pod. The more time they spent together, the more he seemed jealous if anyone, especially me, came near her. It was like a love story, but without me in the picture!

Then things got really tough. My wife got sick, and Buddha wouldn’t leave her side for over a year. He was trying to make her better by showing his love and affection. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. We were all heartbroken when she passed away. After my wife passed away, my relationship with our dog Buddha wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows. But after some time, Buddha started coming to bed with me! Now, he even lets me take him for walks and enjoys my company. I want to take care of him, ensuring he’s happy and healthy. It’s like we’re slowly becoming friends. It feels like together, we’re adding another happy chapter to the countless heartwarming dog stories.

Mya and Mutti Find Each Other

Mya and Mutti Find Each Other

Little Mya, a sweet pup, was abandoned by her owner. Left alone and scared, she was like a forgotten doll.  But then, one day, her barks reached a kind stranger and her hearts melt as rescue dog holds hand

with its paws. She took her to the animal hospital. That’s where I heard her story. My heart ached for her, but I already had three dogs.

Then, I remembered my mom, Mutti. She’d just lost her dog Emmy, and the house felt empty. Maybe, I thought, Mya could be Mutti’s new best friend.

On my next visit, I brought Mya with me. As she hopped out of the car, Mya ran straight to Mutti, barking and wiggling joyfully. It was like they’d always known each other! A smile spread across Mutti’s face – two lonely souls finding comfort in each other.

From that day on, Mya was Mutti’s constant companion. They walked, played outside, and even cuddled in bed together. They were totally inseparable.

Years later, Mutti got sick. Mya stayed by her side all through it, never leaving her bedside. The last thing I remember is Mutti petting Mya’s head, and then, sadly, my mom was gone.

I’m so grateful to Mya for giving Mutti those happy years and being there for her until the end. Of course, Mya didn’t get left behind again. Now, she lives happily with me and my other dogs. Every time I see Mya, I smile because I remember the special day Mutti and Mya met. In a way, seeing Mya feels like seeing a part of Mutti again, which warms my heart.

 Cooper the Surfing Soulmate

Cooper the Surfing Soulmate

Among so many dog rescue stories, this one is fascinating. This story is about my Pup Cooper, a rescue pup who found his perfect match within me (a fellow adventurer). We bonded over with our love for the ocean and each other’s energy.

For eight years now, it’s been pure joy with this guy. Running, swimming, surfing – these were our things! Finding a furry friend who loved the water as much as I did was rare. Cooper’s a smart one – learned commands like “stop” and “sit” in a flash. Now, he patiently waits on the rocks while I surf, keeping a watchful eye.

One time, I slammed into a rock surfing and messed up my knee. Doc said there was fluid loss and no surfing for a while. Sitting at home with a bum knee wasn’t Cooper’s style either. He loves walks and runs on the beach! He stuck by me, though, even when we were both bored out of our minds.

Finally, I started getting better. My legs were still tired, but I could see the itch in Cooper’s eyes – he wanted back to the beach! You should’ve seen the pure joy on both our faces when we finally ran together again. Honestly, we’re inseparable now. Cooper, this incredible dog, brought the excitement back into my life.

Mile the tiny chaotic Pup

Mile the tiny chaotic Pup

So we adopted this adorable little puppy named Milo! He’s a blonde furball with the most prominent blue eyes you’ve ever seen, and we found him at a rescue in Los Angeles. We were so excited to bring him home; he seemed like our perfect little angel.

Well, that was until things got a little crazy. Milo had never lived with other dogs, so he didn’t understand boundaries. Our other dog, Frederick (a four-year-old rescue from Houston who grew up with his siblings), was not a fan. Milo, on the other hand, had boundless energy and zero chills.

We were totally naive about what we were getting ourselves into, but Frederick knew! Milo was like a tiny hurricane. We had to teach them how to live with humans and another dog. Since I work from home, it would be easy to handle. Boy, was I wrong! At 28, I suddenly felt like a full-time mom. Here I was, headset on, talking to colleagues on the East Coast while chasing Milo around the house, trying to stop him from chewing everything in sight, including the counters!

One day, Milo even managed to lock us out of the house! We had to climb a ladder to get back in, and let me tell you, both Milo and Frederick were thrilled to see us when we finally made it.

Despite the chaos, Milo is the happiest Pup I’ve ever met. I can’t believe how much I love him! Working from home means we’re practically inseparable, and he’s brought out a whole new side of me – patient, nurturing, and a little firm (gotta be the loving parent, right?).

My Wagging Tail Pup, Tasha

My Wagging Tail Pup, Tasha

It’s 2004… It was the time when my Business closed, the divorce happened, and I was leaving our home after 22 years. Talk about a rough time!

But through it all, Tasha, my 65-pound Lab, was there for me. Tasha had this incredible sixth sense. Whenever I felt down or lost, she’d appear out of nowhere, plop her head in my lap, and give me those soulful doggy eyes. She silently said, “Don’t worry, paw-mom, everything will be okay.”

Those snuggles from Tasha were precisely what I needed. The feeling of her cold nose nudging my cheek still fills me with warmth today. I can’t imagine going through that tough time without my best Pup by my side.

This might be the saddest dog rescue stories, you’ve might heard. I had 16 incredible years together with Tasha, and even now, I miss her.

Final thoughts

So, if you’re considering adding a furry friend, consider opening your heart and home to a rescue pup. You might find yourself on the receiving end of unconditional love and a lifetime of wags.
